The LGBTQ Meaningful Care Conference

Greetings from the 2012 LGBTQ Meaningful Care Conference Co-Chairs

On behalf of the LGBTQ Health Coalition of the Columbia-Willamette, we are excited to invite you to 2012 LGBTQ Meaningful Care Conference on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Lloyd Doubletree Hotel in Portland, OR. As a day-long LGBTQ cultural competency training event for healthcare and social service professionals, the Meaningful Care Conference aims to promote LGBTQ cultural competency in health care and social services, share current best practice applications of LGBTQ cultural competency in health care and social services, and to develop and diversify networks of LGBTQ culturally competent health care and social service providers.

The Conference was run successfully in 2007, 2008, and 2009 with the 2009 Conference boasting over 250 people in attendance. Since 2009, updates in best practices for providing healthcare and services to LGBTQ individuals have become available. Our Conference planning committee is hard at work developing an evidence-based and current best practices-centered curriculum that will cover a wide range of healthcare and service delivery issues when working with LGBTQ clients

As the only day-long conference focused on LGBTQ cultural competency in our region, this event is not to be missed by any healthcare and social service professionals, students, advocates, and community members interested in getting the latest information on how to best work with their LGBTQ consumers in order to provide them the best service possible. We are proud to coordinate this conference so that, as a community, we can take action to support LGBTQ health and hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Mayor Sam Adams
Commissioner Deborah Kafoury
City of Portland District 1, Multnomah County
